Between September 21–30, 2025, the fellows of the prestigious Lane Kirkland Program, implemented by the Polish-American Freedom Foundation, stayed in Bydgoszcz. They are outstanding representatives of the intellectual and professional elites from Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. Among the 38 participants are: lawyers, directors, writers, doctors, advocates, human rights defenders, politicians, IT specialists, and other opinion leaders in their countries.
The most important part of their stay was the ceremonial inauguration of the program, which took place on Friday, September 26, 2025, in the Aula Maior of our University. During the inauguration, the fellows and invited guests were welcomed by the Rector and President of our University. The significance of the event was further emphasized by the presence of Col. Zdzisław Darosz, representative of the Commander of the NATO–Ukraine Joint Centre for Analysis, Training, and Education.
The inaugural lecture: “From Maps to Holograms: How Modern Technologies Revolutionize the Visualization of the Past” was delivered by Vice-Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ewelina Gdaniec.
It is a great honor for our university that Bydgoszcz and WSG were chosen as the location for the inauguration. The participants will undertake internships at Poland’s leading universities – Jagiellonian University in Kraków, University of Warsaw, as well as UMCS in Lublin and University of Wrocław.
