What Is Volunteering

To take action where and when it’s needed, in case of a crisis. Whether it is a natural disasters, the migration crisis or simply the care of the weakest – like disabled or poor people -, every young European can make the difference and join the European Solidarity Corps. The call is open to help European Union as a whole. A common response for problems that shall not stay confined within the countries where they first raise.

What is volunteering

Activities

We are proud volunteers of the European Solidarity Corps, united by a shared commitment to learning, growth, and meaningful impact. Our journey has brought us to WSG University in Bydgoszcz, Poland, where we actively contribute to a wide range of enriching activities that foster both personal development and community support.

At WSG University, our roles are diverse and dynamic:

  • Marketing Department: We assist in crafting creative content, managing social media, and supporting promotional campaigns that strengthen the university's visibility and outreach.

  • International Relations: We help in building bridges between cultures by supporting student mobility, organizing intercultural events, and welcoming international students.

  • Studio Design: We contribute to the creation of digital and visual materials, learning hands-on design skills in a professional studio environment.

  • Library Services: We engage in maintaining a welcoming and organized space for students, supporting learning and research through library assistance.

Beyond the university campus, we are also actively involved in local community service:

  • Elderly Club: We spend time with senior citizens, offering companionship, organizing activities, and sharing stories across generations.

  • Nursery School: We support early childhood education by assisting teachers, playing with children, and helping create a nurturing environment for young learners.

Through these experiences, we are not only developing valuable skills and gaining international experience, but also contributing to the communities that host us. This project is more than volunteer work it's a chance to grow, connect, and leave a lasting positive impact.

Accomodation

As European Solidarity Corps volunteers at WSG University, our experience goes far beyond our daily activities. We also live together in housing provided by the project just a short walk from the university. This convenient location allows us to stay connected to both our work and the local community.

Our home is fully supported by the project:
Accommodation, utilities, and essential needs are all covered, giving us peace of mind and allowing us to focus on learning and contributing.

But what truly makes this experience special is the personal growth that comes with it.

  • Learning to live independently: For many of us, this is the first time managing life away from home. From budgeting our monthly allowance to organizing our routines, we’re gaining practical life skills that will stay with us long after the project ends.

  • Sharing space and responsibilities: Living with other volunteers from different countries teaches us how to cooperate, communicate, and build a respectful, supportive environment.

  • Creating a friendly atmosphere: We celebrate our differences, learn from each other’s cultures, and turn our shared house into a true home.

This part of the journey is just as important as our volunteering roles. It’s about growing not just as professionals, but as people becoming more responsible, open-minded, and connected.

We are not only working together. We are living and growing together and that's what makes this experience truly life-changing.
