From June 8 to 12, 2026, we—Vitalii and Artem—participated in the Erasmus+ BIP program at the European Research University in Ostrava. The theme of the program was “Become a Leader of the Future: AI and Ethics.” The program included a stay in the Czech Republic as well as prior online meetings. Thanks to these meetings, we got to know some of the participants, the topics of the sessions, and the rules for working together even before we left. The week in Ostrava was intense. Every day, we took part in classes on artificial intelligence, its applications, and the responsibilities associated with using new technologies. We worked in international teams on specific tasks and also tried our hand at creating simple AI-based programs and solutions on our own.
We devoted a lot of attention to ethics. We discussed the potential consequences of the development of artificial intelligence and who should be responsible for how it is used. The participants came from different countries, so we were able to learn about different points of view. During our teamwork exercises, we practiced clearly presenting our ideas, listening to others, and working together to find solutions.
We also saw how knowledge of AI and automation can be useful in logistics, especially when analyzing and streamlining processes. The classes showed us that simply knowing the tools isn’t enough. It’s equally important to understand their limitations and make responsible decisions.
Our stay in Ostrava was also an opportunity to meet students from other countries. Conversations during and outside of class helped us overcome language barriers and work more comfortably in an international environment.
After the program ended, we both returned with a better understanding of artificial intelligence and a clearer perspective on the ethics of its use. We have fond memories of the trip because it combined learning, hands-on tasks, and collaboration with people from different countries.
