BIP in Daugavpils

From April 13 to 17, 2026, students from the WSG University in Bydgoszcz, majoring in Physical Therapy and Nursing, participated in a Blended Intensive Program titled “Multidisciplinary Team Collaboration in Elderly Healthcare” at Daugavpils University. Below is an account of their stay.

“We had the opportunity to spend a week on an Erasmus exchange in Daugavpils, Latvia, and it was a time we will remember for a long time. From the very first moments, this country made a huge impression on us—it felt a bit like it had been plucked from the past, with a unique atmosphere. We decided to go on this trip out of curiosity—we wanted to see what it was like and what we could learn. Although switching to speaking English fluently was a challenge at first, we quickly got over it. The classes were interesting and focused mainly on group work, which allowed us to get to know each other better and get involved. Throughout the trip, we participated in a large number of lectures and practical sessions focused on caring for the elderly. We had the opportunity to visit Day Care Centers for the elderly, where patients can spend their time creatively under the care of specialists. The trip allowed us to familiarize ourselves with the operations of various hospital wards and with methods of caring for the elderly.

The program also had a cultural component, allowing us to learn about local traditions and Latvia’s cultural heritage. We also met people from various European countries—sharing our cultures was a wonderful experience. This trip helped us become more open to others and gain greater self-confidence. If you’re wondering—there’s no need to: IT’S WORTH IT. GIVE IT A TRY”.
