On April 13, 2026, in the main academic hall of Osh State University in Kyrgyzstan, Prof. WSG Dr. habil. Alexander Skaliy, Director of the Institute of Sport and Physical Culture at the University of Economy in Bydgoszcz, was awarded the title of Honorary Professor of Osh State University.
The title was conferred by a resolution of the Academic Council of Osh State University, and the official presentation was carried out by the Rector of the university, Prof. Dr. habil. Kodaberdi Kozhobekov. The justification emphasized Prof. Alexander Skaliy’s academic, scientific, and organizational achievements, his work in the field of physical culture and sport, as well as his commitment to the development of international academic cooperation.
The ceremony took place during the visit of a delegation from the University of Economy in Bydgoszcz and Polish medical experts to Kyrgyzstan as part of the RITA project “Polish experience in breast cancer prevention for the youth of Kyrgyzstan.” The project, carried out in cooperation with Osh State University, aims to raise awareness among academic youth about cancer prevention, breast self-examination, and the importance of early detection of cancerous changes.
One of the key events of the visit was the organization of the First Kyrgyz Academic Days for the Fight Against Breast Cancer. The event was attended by the WSG delegation as well as Polish experts and oncologists, who conducted educational, preventive, and expert activities addressed to the academic community of Osh State University.
The awarding of the Honorary Professor title by Osh State University is an expression of recognition for Prof. Alexander Skaliy’s long-standing contribution to the development of international cooperation, the implementation of socially significant projects, and the building of lasting academic relationships between Poland and the countries of Central Asia.
